Conversation-in the key of “hello”.
I have found that being conversational is a life practice. Here are some of the ideas and thoughts I have about this:
If you are shy, be shy: choose your kind, select words in an honest way, we all want to hear you. We all desire to be heard, true? True. Truth is divine. We all possess and share it, how we hold on to it and deliver is unique to each of us. Let’s respect it and grow with truth.
Honesty is always appreciated, separate that silly ego from your filter. Honesty is divine though guys…so again, tell the ego to settle the flip down.
When we find ourselves overtly talkative: relax, and settle back into that listening chair. What you may find, as I have in myself, this pause gives time to either come up with a quip, or maybe reflect on the thought of another, which many academics call “respectful” and “really cool and nice”.
It’s not easy, but it is really awesome to test listening skills. Most of us suck at it. So let’s all practice.
I like to believe we are a combination of all of these traits. I believe in the power of conversation and the relational energy it emits.
Conversation can be non verbal, i.e. catching the eye of another and sharing a smile. It can also be verbal (duh) i.e. saying hello to that person-you-may-not-have-seen-in-awhile-but-know-their-name-and-you-feel-awkward-because-you-are-both-looking-for-black-olives-at-the-newly-renovated-hannaford-where-everything-is-opposite…or something…it’s always a good idea to say “hey”.
Let’s share the true thoughts and energy that is too often oppressed. Positive, negative, or null, it is all existing. Connected, we are.
